Annur is a city in Tamil Nadu, India about 32 km from Coimbatore.
The name Annur came from "Vanniyur", later transformed into Anniyur and now Annur. The myth behind the name goes like, Above 1000 years ago, when a small hunter hit a stone under a "Vanni" tree, it started bleeding. He was astonished and called the village people to look after this issue. Later they found a 'Suyambu' Lord Shiva Idol there and built a temple over there.
Annur can be reached from Coimbatore (33km) by bus. Nearest air port is at Coimbatore.

The famous temple is called Manneeswaraswamy Temple built 1000 years ago by Chera kings. Annur is also a cotton and textile manufacturing Hub comprising of Yarn spinning mills, 100 cotton ginning factories. It also has more than 100 edible oil mills.

You can approach any Spinning mill in the region to Buy textiles and textile based products, apparels, fashion products, towel materials, etc. You can find varieties if Saree's in the next town called Punjai Puliampatti. Its just 15km from Annur.

Many City living people come out to these places for a change, just to escape from the crowd and pollution. Urbanization is good but that should not irritate human. Here you feel peaceful during night outs.
