Ashby is a town in Massachusetts with a population of 3,000 (2020).
Ashby has the smallest population out of all towns within Middlesex County. Ashby's small population also means much of the town outside of the downtown area is not very developed. Many roads off its two main roads, route 119 and route 31, are not paved so in spring during mud season stick to these 2 main roads in town.
Ashby was settled in 1676 by the families of James Coleman, James Locke, and John Fitch. The town was incorporated in 1767. Ashby was formed from portions of Townsend, Ma., Lunenburg, Ma., Fitchburg, Ma., and Dorchester-Canada (a portion of current day Ashburnham, Ma.)
A car our walking are going to be the only way to get around Ashby.
There are no hotels or B&B's in Ashby: the only options for sleeping are campgrounds.
