Hangseshwari Temple Bansberia is a town and a municipality in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, India.

Bansberia was one of the seven villages in Saptagram. In medieval times, Saptagran was a major port in South Bengal. However, the port had to be abandoned in the 17th century because of the silting up of the Saraswati River. Despite this, thanks to the influx of Portuguese merchants in the area, Hooghly inherited the importance of Saptagram as a major port.
