Bhandarej is an all but forgotten and colorful village with an ancient past. In earlier times it was well known for its terracotta vessels, lattice work and unique sculptures. Much of the area has been excavated. Though only remnants remain, they are an interesting attraction for the traveller.

- Bara Baoli. (1732 AD) Hindu-style five-storey stepwell is believed to connect to the Palace by a secret tunnel. A popular site for the visitor, Bara Baori has arched windows, traditional paintings and courtyards. Many excellent carvings of birds and animals adorn the structure. It is also a place of some religious importance.
