Bowling Green is a small town in Missouri a few hours Northwest of St. Louis, not far from the banks of the mighty Mississippi River.
Actual things to see and do in Bowling Green are next to nothing. Too far out of St Louis for commuters, Bowling Green is however a lovely slice of 'American Pie'. The center of town consists of the courthouse around which a square of 'mom and pop' stores ply for trade. There are no big chain stores on the square yet.
However there is a sizable Amish community next to the town, which is worth an afternoon exploring. Maps are available locally.
Though no photos should be taken of the Amish people themselves, taking photos of their land is o.k. They sheaf wheat the old fashioned way.
There is an Amish store where fresh, local grown produce can be bought.
