Bungmati (aka: Bungamati) is a small town in the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal, located 10 km south of the centre of Kathmandu. The village is known for the number of master woodcarvers and sculpture producers.
The ancient village came into existence as early in the 7th century. It used to be an autonomous province in Kathmandu Valley. Regardless of the rapid changes in lifestyle of the urban population and the globalized way of living, the Bungamati locals have remained largely untouched by modern life.
There is regular bus service from Patan's Lagankhel 📍 bus station. The ride to Bungamati will take under an hour.
Anything you want to see can be easily visited on foot.
