Get around
There is a modern corridor rail Praha-Ostrava-Brno-Wien going through the region. Pardubice, Choceň, Ústí nad Orlicí, Česká Třebová and Svitavy lie on the track, however most modern IC and EC trains stop only in Pardubice and Česká Třebová. To visit all other mentioned towns, you have to take either rychlík (R) or osobní/spěšný vlak (Os/Sp) trains. Chrudim lies on the rail connecting Pardubice and Jihlava. There are many minor local rails in the region as well but with few exceptions it is not very convenient to use them.

The Ležáky memorial commemorates the annihilation of the village of Ležáky by Nazi Germans on 9 June 1942, as a retaliation for the assassination of the acting Reichsprotektor Reinhard Heydrich. It is 30 km south of Pardubice near Miřetice.
