Northwest Region is a region in East Java.
The northwest area is the westernmost area and is directly adjacent to Central Java on the north coast of Java.
Cities served by the rail network include Bojonegoro, Ngawi, Madiun, Nganjuk and Jombang.
There are a lot of buses to go to each city in this area mainly from Bungurasih Purabaya Bus Terminal in Surabaya.
Cities are connected by good condition provincial roads. There is also a toll road from Ngawi to Jombang through Madiun and Nganjuk.
Teksas Wonocolo, the earliest oil and gas tourism in Indonesia has been opened in Bojonegoro. There are some traditional oil rigs made from teak woods. Also in Bojonegoro, there is an eternal flame in the middle of teak forest called Kayangan Api. It will be clearly visible at night.
The most you can hope for will be getting out to somewhere green because there are some teak forestry area especially in Ngawi, Nganjuk, and Bojonegoro.
The regency that has beaches is Tuban because it is the only area that is not landlocked. It has some white sand beaches toward the Java Sea.
You can go around using a speedboat on the Lake Telaga Sarangan in Magetan.
The beautiful atmosphere can be felt to get to the waterfall including Sedudo waterfall in Nganjuk and Tretes waterfall in Jombang.
Pecel is ubiquitous dish in the area. This food can be found in the cities. Try pecel sambal tumpang, pecel with tempeh sauce in Kertosono District of Nganjuk. In addition, each city also has its own special food and can be seen in the city's articles.
As an area with a Muslim majority, it is very difficult to find alcohol drinks. The common drinks are sweet iced tea and instant coffee. You may also try Java ginger juice, traditionally called sari temulawak. In Jombang, there is a unique drink named coffee beer with zero alcohol and its composition is coffee, caramel, sugar, water, and soda.
