Evenkia (Russian: Эвенки́я eh-vehn-KEE-yuh) is a vast Siberia region in Krasnoyarsk Krai, the size of Turkey, but with a very sparse population — a mere 0.023 people per km2, less than 20,000 people in total. Evenkia borders Taymyria to the north, Yakutia to the east, Irkutsk Oblast to the southeast, and the Krasnoyarsk region to the southwest and west.
Evenkia's population is about 60% ethnic Russian, but is named after its nomadic Evenk minority (~22% of the population), a small ethnic group that traditionally lives off reindeer herding, related to the Manchu of Northeast China and others in the Russian Far East.
