Ferguson is a town in northern St. Louis County, Missouri. It is a suburb of St. Louis.
Ferguson features high poverty and crime rates, and is a low-income community. There are no tourist attractions in this area.
Metro St. Louis runs several bus lines from downtown to different parts of Ferguson.
Ferguson gained notoriety due to widespread riots in 2014, provoked by police who fatally shot Michael Brown on a street in broad daylight. Multiple journalists were arrested in an attempt to obstruct coverage of the unrest.
There has been a long history of racial tension, with police targeting minorities with exorbitant fines for relatively minor offences; as this represents revenue to the municipality, judges do little to curb the abuses.
Nominally, things have since returned to normal and you should be fine if you exercise common sense, but this is not the best neighborhood in the city.
