Fu'an (福安) is a city of about 600,000 people (2010) in Ningde Prefecture, Fujian.
Fu'an City is mainly composed of three ethnic groups: Han, She and Hui. The She population accounts for about 11% of the city's population, and the Han population accounts for about 88.4% of the total population. The Han include the Tanka people of which there are about 7,400.
Fu'an dialect is commonly spoken in the area. Some She people speak She dialect, which is related to Hakka.
Fu'an is known for its tea production. Besides tea, the agricultural sector is specialized in grapes, aquaculture and animal husbandry.The three leading industries in Fu'an are the electrical machinery industry, the shipbuilding industry and the food industry.
Fu'an is on the main fast train line from Fuzhou to Shanghai, but not all trains stop there.
It is 150 km (93 mi) away from Fuzhou.
