Genipabu or Jenipabu is a beach village in Rio Grande do Norte, getting ever more incorporated into Greater Natal, a few kilometres to its south, after the opening of a new bridge in 2009. It is a tourist destination with huge dunes and fresh water lagoons.
Famed for shifting sand dunes right on the beach, and accompanying wild ride buggy tours and camel-rides!
Can be done as a day-trip from Natal, mostly by buggy.
From the terminus Santa Rita bordering the south end of the beach, there are buses to Natal, some crossing the new bridge (allegedly quicker for Ponta Negra) and others the old upriver.
Food at the beach shacks has rather high prices.
Many shacks on the beach.
