Greenbo Lake State Resort Park (dead link: January 2023) is in the Kentucky Appalachians.
Greenbo Lake State Resort Park in Greenup County, Kentucky, is a state resort park in the northeastern part of the Commonwealth, It spans 3600 acres of features a 36 room lodge named for Greenup County resident and writer Jesse Hilton Stuart, a 63-site campground with 35 primitive sites, a swimming pool with slides, two tennis courts, an 18-hole miniature golf course and an amphitheater. The lodge contains a 232-seat dining room. It is centered around the 300-acre Greenbo Lake that features a boat dock and marina. There are over 25 miles (40 km) of hiking, biking and horseback trails.
The idea for a fishing lake and recreational area is attributed to George Collins and Dr. Virgil Skaggs while on a fishing trip in 1948. They put to their Greenup (County) Fish & Game Club members who approved the idea and they began to buy land and cobble together Greenbo Lake and Recreational area from funding from Greenup and Boyd County local communities. The management proved to be too difficult and the project was deeded over to the Commonwealth of Kentucky, under Governor Lawrence Wetherby in 1954.
The park is close to the town of Greenup, Kentucky, on Kentucky State Route 1.
Fish (boat rentals available), and swim in the 225-acre Greenbo Lake. The lake is home of two state largemouth bass records! The lake also holds large bluegill, crappie, catfish, and trout.
The hiking trails provide the perfect opportunity to enjoy the scenery of the beautiful Greenbo forest. Self-guided trails provide 25 miles of easy to difficult hiking.
18-hole miniature golf course in the camping area. Open April through October.
Picnicking & playgrounds: the park has two picnic shelters in the beach area (with rest rooms), and in the campground (without rest rooms). Picnic tables, grills and playgrounds.

Jesse Stuart Lodge is fieldstone lodge named in honor of Jesse Hilton Stuart (1906-1984), Poet Laureate and native of Greenup County. Stuart's works and personal mementos are available in the lodge reading room. Most of the 36 rooms feature private patios and balconies overlooking Greenbo Lake. Rooms are available by late afternoon. Check-out by noon Eastern Time. Pets are not allowed (with the exception of service dogs).
Greenbo Lake's campground features 63 sites with utility hook ups and 35 primitive sites. Two dumping stations, two central service buildings with showers and rest rooms, and a grocery store guarantee camping convenience. Open from mid-March to mid-November.
