Guihulngan is a coastal town in the north of Negros Oriental. It is the province's third largest city with 103,000 residents in 2020.
The town is on the coastal highway that runs around nearly all of Negros Island. Dumaguete is 120 km to the south and San Carlos City 60 km to the north. Highway 10 AH 26 runs inland from Guihulngan and connects to the next province, Negros Occidental; it is 70 km to Bacolod. There are buses on all these routes.
Mactan–Cebu International Airport, in the Visayas' largest city Metro Cebu, is the closest major airport to Guihulngan. Alternatively, there are flights from Cebu and Manila to Dumaguete or Bacolod.
Fast ferries connect Guihulngan to Cebu Island via Tangil Port in Dumanjug; this is the usual way to travel between Guihulgnan and Metro Cebu. Dumanjug is also close to the popular diving destination Moalboal.
