Kedougou is the capitol of the administrative region that bears its name. For purposes of this travel guide, it is considered part of the Tambacounda Region of southeastern Senegal.
Kedougou is the largest city in Southeastern Senegal, which boasts a lush of hills, plenty of rain and rugged beauty that is distinct from the rest of Senegal. With a culture that often seems more Guinean that Senegalese, Kedougou would be a welcome stop for Senegalese travelers.
Formerly a part of the immense Region of Tambacounda, Kedougou became a capitol in 2008.
Kedougou, with its beautiful mountains and waterfalls, is a center for eco-tourism.
