Kolomyia (Ukrainian: Коломия) (multiple spellings, also Kolomea, Kolomia, Kolomiya, Kolomyja) is a town in the Ukrainian part of East Galicia. The town is in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains and therefore often serves as a starting point for hiking or cultural site-seeing tours in the Eastern Carpathians.
Kolomyia is a railway hub. You can easily get there from Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi. It has also many bus connections to cities all around Ukraine and to several foreign countries (Poland, Czech Republic, Moldova).
The most common means of public transportation in the region is bus. There are many bus lines covering the whole town of Kolomyia and connecting it to many other destinations in the Carpathians. One trip within the town costs around 1 грн.
Many imposing buildings dating back to the 19th century. There are quite a few interesting churches in the centre as well.
