Korgalzhyn Nature Reserve is in the Kazakhstani North. Together with the Naurzum State Nature Reserve it forms a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The landscape consists of steppes and wetlands.
Koralzhyn is known for its bird fauna and is the northernmost place in the world where you can see pink flamingos living in the wild. Other animals include pelicans, cranes, antelopes, marmots and wolves.
The nature reserve is a little less than 200 km southwest of Astana, next to Lake Tengiz.
