Lake County is a county in Central Florida, named for the large numbers of lakes found throughout the area.
The northwestern corner of the county is part of The Villages.
Lake County is one of many Florida counties with numerous medium-sized lakes, and there are towns with lakeshores around many of these. As a consequence, boating and in Lake County's case, even seaplanes are popular here. The population density in the county is low, with most people living in small towns and rural areas, and some of the towns have historic houses and museums. The main tourist destination is Mount Dora, which has an attractive commercial district near Lake Dora.
There are some historic houses, not to mention Clermont's Citrus Tower and the Presidential Hall of Fame. There are some nature reserves, particularly near the various lakes, providing a view into the region's natural habitat.
There is a county fair, a biking festival, and a George Washington Festival.
