Machhiwara is a city in the Indian state of Punjab. A small town that grew to importance when Sikh Guru Gobind Singh Ji visited this place and slept in the jungles of Machhiwara while fighting the Mughal forces in December 1705.
This town or as would apply for rest of Punjab is only for tourists interested in history, culture and religion and you would be bored if looking for cosmopolitan culture. It has a great local Punjabi culture with a Gurudwara that now nestles on the place where Guruji slept. Forests have largely disappeared now.
bus stand 📍 Machhiwara is a town well connected by roads from all sides of Punjab although there is no rail link and the nearest rail or air link is Ludhiana. It has direct road link from Samrala originating from Chandigarh.
