Mahoba is a historic city of 95,000 people (2011) in the Awadh region of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is known for the 9th-century granite Sun temple built in Pratihara style, and for the 24 rock-cut Jain tirthankara images on Gokhar hill.
Mahoba is a 3½-hour drive east of Jhansi and a 2-hour journey on the road from Khajuraho.
Mahoba is famous for its paan (flavoured betel leaf), commonly eaten as an after mint.
It is close to Lavkushnagar and other historic places like Kulpahar, Charkhari, Kalinjar, Orchha, and Jhansi.
