Marciac is a town in Gers.
Home to 1200 inhabitants, Marciac is perhaps most famous for its yearly Jazz Festival that has been running every August since 1978. A ‘bastide’ town, it dates to the late 12th century and is situationed between Auch and Tarbes.
The town square with its medieval arcades is the heart of everything and home to many concerts and events.
The church, which boasts the highest clock tower in the Gers.
You must attend one of Marciacs many festivals. From Jazz to Latino to country, the festivals bring vibrancy and colour to this small French town.
On the outskirts of Marciac there is a large lake where you can hire pedal boats, go windsurfing and swimming.
There are a small number of restaurants in the town. Wander into the heart of the village beneath the cooling arcades to find an attractive place to dine or head to the lake and dine at the floating restaurant.
There are a selection of self-catering, hotels, bed and breakfast options as well as camping. Do organise in advance if you are attending the Jazz Festival.
