The little town of Milton is north of Balclutha and about 50km south of Dunedin in Otago, New Zealand..
The population is only about 2,000 and some of Milton's few streets are named for British writers such as Burns, Chaucer, Johnson, Scott, Shakespeare and Spencer. For most travellers, Milton is just a toilet stop on SH1 which passes right through its centre.
Milton is served by Intercity coaches as a stop on Dunedin - Queenstown, Christchurch - Te Anau and Dunedin - Invercargill routes.
