Misty Fjords National Monument is a United States national monument in Southeastern Alaska.
Established in 1978.
There are coastal temperate rainforest, alpine habitats where you may find bears (black and brown), wolves, deer, salmon, eagles, whales, porpoises
Rainforest near the coast, snowfields and glaciers in the mountainous interior on the mainland.
Tour boat or float plane from Ketchikan.
Fees for cabin use.
Boat required.
Rudyerd Bay, Walker Cove, numerous wilderness lakes, New Eddystone Rock.
Admire scenery, hike, kayak, photograph.
There are no business concessions within the boundaries of the monument.
Eat what you catch or what you bring with you -- there are no restaurants or foodsellers within the monument boundaries.
Thete are US Forest Service shelters and forest service cabins. It is difficult to find suitable tent camping spots in steep, wet terrain of SE Alaska coastal rainforest.
There are hiking trails and kayak routes.
Inform yourself about what to do if you encounter black or brown bears.
