Morganton is a city in Georgia's Northeast High Country.
Located on Highways 60 and 76 just outside the town of Blue Ridge.
Morganton was the county seat of Fannin county, Georgia in the 1800s. The county seat was moved to the town of Blue Ridge due to the train establishing a depot in Blue Ridge.
Located on the shores of Lake Blue Ridge, which are 80% within the Chattahoochee National Forest and part of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Visit Morganton Point Beach which features a sandy pebble beach area for swimming, a boat ramp and camping facilities, as well as kayak and canoe rentals and paddle board rentals.
There are no restaurants in Morganton. They are located in the nearby towns of Blue Ridge and Blairsville.
