Ode Remo is a town in Ogun State.
Ode Remo's people are Yorubas from Ile-Ife, the Yorubas' cradle. They originated in the ancient city of Ile-Ilode Ife's and Iremo neighborhoods. They travelled through dense woodland, rivers, and streams until they arrived at a site on the Ijebu Waterside where they attempted to settle; this location is now known as "Ode Omi." However, the oracle, who served as a guide, advised them to continue on until they arrived at the current location where they settled. After migrating from the Ile-Ife quarters of Ilode and Iremo, the two names were used interchangeably until Ode Remo became the permanent name of this historical town.
Ode Remo is easily accessible from Lagos and Ibadan due to its location on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The majority of visitors arrive by shuttle from Lagos/Ibadan on the main road. Motorcycles are the most common mode of transportation in Ode-Remo, with prices as low as ₦100 (Dec 2021) for short distances.
