The most famous restaurant in the city, according to the residents in the town and residents of Huron County, is the Port Hope Hotel, home of the Leroy Burger, which was the only size burger to get when the restaurant first opened.

  • Albert E. Sleeper House, 302 W. Huron Ave, Bad Axe (23 mi SW of Port Hope), 43.801667°, -83.004444°. This private residence was built in 1917 by former Michigan governor Albert Sleeper. He lived in Bad Axe before his term as governor and after it, until his death in 1934. His wife Mary lived in the home until 1954. It functioned as a funeral home until 2006. The house is a 2½-story Greek revival structure.
