Saugerties is a village in Ulster County in New York.
Because of its proximity to Woodstock (New York), Saugerties is famous for the event it never hosted. The Woodstock Music & Art Fair: "An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music" was held on August 15-18, 1969 at Max Yasgur's dairy farm near White Lake in Bethel NY after being turned away from Wallkill in Orange County NY. A blatantly-commercial “Woodstock 1994” event, intended to cash in on the 25th anniversary of the original festival, did take place on an 840-acre farm in Saugerties.
Saugerties is most easily accessed via Exit 20 off the New York State Thruway (I-87). It can also be reached via Exit 19 by taking US-209 North to US-9W North and the follow US-9W until it enter Saugerties.
