Shahdol is a small town located in Eastern Madhya Pradesh, India.
Officially it's a division, and various districts fall under its constituency. It's also known as Virat Nagar mainly due to presence of a historic temple Virat Mandir built by the Pandavas. It has a lot of small hills and forests spread in large area. Shahdol is also rich with coal fields. The famous Bandhavgarh National Tiger Reserve is also located in the Umaria district of Shahdol and has a large population of wild tigers. It has a lot of destinations very popular among the locals such as Cheer Sagar, Johilla Falls and Tumbi. These serve as a very famous picnic spots and are very crowded on national holidays and festivals.
