Nanhui (南汇区 Nánhuì Qū) is the Southern part of the Pudong New Area in Shanghai.
Nanhui is much less developed than the Downtown Pudong area to the North, but still populous (about a million in the 2010 census), industrialized and growing. However, it is not densely populated compared to more central regions of Shanghai; the land area is quite large.
Within Nanhui are a number of areas with their own distinctive character.
Get in
Many travellers reach Shanghai via Shanghai Pudong International Airport, located in the northeast corner of Nanhui.
Nanhui is well connected by road to central Pudong to the north, and to Minhang and Fengxian districts to the west.
By metro
Shanghai metro line [2] goes to the northeast part, the coastal area near the airport. The ultra-fast magnetic levitation train also goes to the airport; see the airport article for details.
As of mid-2017 two other lines are available:
- Line [11]. Runs from the Disney Resort Station in Nanhui and across the river into Downtown Shanghai; its western end is outside Shanghai at Kunshan.
- Line [16]. Runs from Longyang Road Station in Downtown Pudong to Dishui Lake Station in Nanhui New City, right down on the south coast.
For some stations that will let you transfer to these from other lines, see the Pudong article.

- Nanhui New City (Shanghai Harbor City), 30.9°, 121.933333°. This development was planned by German architects and is built around a circular man-made lake; it includes a planetarium, shopping, and massive office and residential development. Target population was 450,000 but it has not grown as quickly as planners hoped. There are eight university campuses on the west side with about 100,000 students.

It opened in mid-June 2016 and got 5.6 million visitors that year, an average around 28,000 a day. It is Disney's third theme park in Asia and the only one in Mainland China. Most attractions are in Chinese. Maps and schedules are available in English. As of mid-2017, the resort includes two hotels and one theme park, and two more parks are planned.

Fantasyland is the largest land and hosts Enchanted Storybook Castle which is the tallest Disneyland castle in the world and the only one that can be entered by guests. Treasure Cove is Disney's first pirate-themed land. Adventure Isle is centered around a raft ride called Roaring Rapids and also features Camp Discovery, a challenge trail consisting of three courses of varying difficulties. Tomorrowland is centered around TRON Lightcycle Power Run. It has the longest parade route in a Disney park.
