Shashemene is a city in the Oromia region of southern Ethiopia, famous for its Rastafari community.
Rastafari followers from the Caribbean were granted land in Shashemene in 1948 by Emperor Haile Selassie I, after whom the Rastafari movement is named.
Shashemene is a transport hub. Buses are plentiful.
You can get around Shashemene by bus, bajaj (a type of motorized rickshaw) or walking.
