Stokes National Park - national park in Western Australia

Stokes National Park is in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, with long beaches and numerous recreational opportunities.

Understand

The Stokes Inlet that lends the park its name offers many recreational activities on the water, in the surf or in the wetland.

The main camping and day area next to the mouth of the inlet is the usual spot but there are a couple other places in the park that are a bit off the beaten track.

Get in

The turn off for Stokes inlet Rd is about 80 km west of Esperance on the South Coast Hwy. Access to Quaggi Beach is via Farrels Rd, around 70 km from Esperance. To get to Fanny Cove, turn off at the 4WD track half way down Farrels Rd, on boundary of the last farm property. It is about 19 km further to Fanny Cove.

  • Margaret Cove, -33.8669°, 121.007°. A fairly popular snorkelling and swimming spot. Fishing is also somewhat popular here, but it's not the best spot if you want to try and catch a big fish. 2021-11-27
  • Heritage Walk Trail. A 2.8 km trail passing through some of the mallee heath parts of the park, linking Benwenerup Campground to Stokes Inlet Day Use Area. 2021-11-27

There are no cafes, bars, kiosks, restaurants etc. in the park. Bring your own food with you.

Camping

  • Fanny Cove, -33.8561°, 121.192°. Four large sheltered sites up in the dunes and a long drop toilet. No water or fires. Free to stay. Access by 4WD. 2021-11-27
  • Stokes Inlet. Camp however you like in the prescribed sites. 2021-11-27
  • Qaggi Beach. A ramble of campsites behind the dunes in the Banksia trees are suitable for caravans and every other accommodation you could drag in. The crusty looking toilet block is serviceable if the trees are not your thing. An honour box asks for $3 per night. 2021-11-27
  • Skippy Rock campground, -33.8586°, 121.039°. Has nine large camping sites, nearby the beach. It works on a first in best dress system. 2021-11-27

Backcountry

Camping rough outside of the campsites or in parking lots is not permitted.
