Trechtingshausen is a village in the Middle Rhine Valley in the Rhineland-Palatinate region of Germany.
Downriver from Bingen, there are three Medieval castles near the town of Trechingshausen: Burg Rheinstein, Burg Reichenstein, and Burg Sooneck. Built up on the stony cliffs overlooking the Rhine, these fortresses quickly transport you back across the centuries as they have displays of art, weapons, and furnishings.
Trains run regularly to Trechtingshausen. The line is Koblenz – Boppard – Bacharach – Bingen am Rhein – Mainz.
The B9 goes through the village.
The Bingen-Rüdesheimer (dead link: August 2018) cruise boats occasionally stop at Trechtingshausen and Burg Rheinstein.
The village itself is small enough to walk round. To get to Burg Rheinstein or Burg Sooneck it is best by car or along the cycle path.
The Rheinburgenweg runs passed Burg Rheinstein and above Trechtingshausen and Burg Sooneck.
