Trevelin is a small town in Argentine Patagonia.
Trevelin is associated with the first Welsh settlers in the area. First they got to Esquel, 20 km away, and then they discovered the then fertile area of the Percy river valley.
Esquel has an Airport (Aeropuerto de Esquel), RN40, -42.905°, -71.139°, +542945451676. with flights from Ezeiza International Airport. From the Esquel Airport, one can rent a car and drive to Trevelin, or hire a taxi.
There is a first rate late-19th/early-20th century Welsh museum; many Argentinians and Chileans are proud to be associated, and take a lively interest.
There are Welsh tea shops and all sorts of memorabilia associated with the original Welsh presence.
The Chilean border is quite nearby, and many cross here to renew their Argentine visas after three months. Their destination in Chile is the town of Feutaleufu, head of that Chilean department of 40,000 people.
