Yobe State is a state in the North East of Nigeria.
This is a state occupied majorly by the Hausa ethnic group. The major language spoken in this state is Hausa. The population is mainly Muslim. Sharia law is valid.
The major industry in the state is agriculture. Potiskum has one of the largest cattle markets in West Africa. The state's agricultural produce includes gum arabic, groundnuts, beans, and cotton. While Yobe state is an agricultural state, the state also has rich mineral deposits, including gypsum and kaolin in the Fune LGA.
There is no airport in this state, although you can take a flight to Maiduguri then take a bus to Yobe.
This is the most preferred means of entering the state. You can use local buses or luxurious buses like GIGM.
You can get around the state by using buses, cabs or bikes. You can also access some towns on foot.
The state has been the target of attacks by Boko Haram extremists. Inform yourself of the current security situation when considering travelling to the state.
