Zhujiajian Island is an island in the Zhoushan archipelago in Zhejiang Province, and home to some of the best beaches in the Yangtze River delta.
The easiest way to get to Zhujiajian from the mainland is to take a bus directly to the long distance bus station in Zhujiajian, Pudu Travel Bus Station (普渡旅游汽车站), which is located at Sihang Square (慈航广场). Buses from the South Bus Station in Ningbo (宁波南站), which is next to Ningbo Train Station, depart every 20 to 40 minutes between 08:00 and 17:00 (¥72). The ride takes around 2½ hours.
Direct buses to the Zhujiajian long distance bus station also depart frequently from Ningbo Airport (¥70), Hangzhou (¥110), and Shanghai (¥150).
There are also daily flights to Zhoushan, whose airport is located on Zhujiajian Island, from Shanghai, Guangzhou and other cities around China.
Local buses from other locations in the Zhoushan Islands travel to Sihang Square, including bus 227 from Dinghai City (定海市) and bus 303 from Shenjiamen (沈家门).
The Nansha public bus, departing from Sihang Square, runs frequently to and from the Nansha and Dongsha beaches. The rides cost a few yuan. Take a taxi to the beaches (around ¥30) if you are in a hurry.
Hit the beach! The beaches on Zhujiajian are some of the best in Zhejiang province, though they are walled off and require an entrance fee.
Nansha Beach (南沙). This beach is long and wide and settled in a cove surrounded by mountains. Swimming is restricted to sections of the beach sectioned off by ropes, though you are allowed to wade into the water over the entire stretch of the beach. ¥75 entrance fee, or ¥120 for combo ticket to other attractions in the area.

Rooms start around ¥150 and many accommodations accept foreigners.
Transportation to neighboring Putuoshan frequently depart Sihang Square, as do buses to Ningbo, Hangzhou and Shanghai.
