The Alejandro de Humboldt National Park is in Eastern Cuba, in the provinces of Holguín and Guantánamo. It's listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Named after the German naturalist Alexander von Humboldt who explored the area at the turn of the 19th century, the park boasts a particularly rich flora.
Animals in the park include the endemic Cuban solenodon, as well as different parrots, lizards, hummingbirds and hutia.
The park is located in the easternmost of Cuba, some 30 km northeast of Guantanamo city.
Numerous agencies in Baracoa provide organized hikes into the park.
