Croton-on-Hudson (dead link: January 2023) is a village of 8,100 people (2019) in Westchester County, New York. In the first half of the 20th century, it was home to many artists, writers and communists.

- Stewart International Airport, (IATA: SWF) 1180 First St, New Windsor, +1 845 564-2100. Another alternative to the congestion of the 3 major airports, but it offers few direct flights.
- Newark Liberty International Airport, Newark, New Jersey, John F. Kennedy International Airport, and LaGuardia Airport: The three major international airports in the New York City area offer service to just about anywhere. Westchester-based taxi and livery cars offer regular service to and from the three internationals from most areas of the county. New York City yellow cabs will take to you Westchester in a pinch, but the fares can be exorbitant. Instead, ask if your hotel offers shuttle service.

Take 9A North or 9A South depending on where you are coming from. Then you can get off at the Senasqua exit, Croton Harmon Exit or the Cortlandt Manor exit
By train
- Metro-North Railroad – Hudson Line. Express service between Croton-Harmon station, 4 Veteran's Plaza and 1 Croton Point Avenue, and New York City's Grand Central Terminal is about 50 minutes. A one-way ticket to or from Grand Central costs $11.25 off-peak and $14.75 peak. Local rail service is available between other Metro-North commuter stations. Full weekday and weekend schedules are available online. Taxis are usually available at the arrival of trains from New York City. On all Metro-North trains, on-board fares are subject to a stiff surcharge, so buy your tickets at the station or at the vending machines.
- Amtrak. Long-distance connections are available in New York City's Penn Station and at Metro-North's Croton-Harmon station.

- Bee Line System. Westchester County's bus service provides access to White Plains and other locations in the county. Schedules and route maps are available on-line and at the Croton-Harmon train station.

- Old Croton Aqueduct, 41.1929°, -73.8831°. Go hiking or biking on the aqueduct's trailway. The original water supply to New York City is now a walking trail that runs from Croton-on-Hudson in the north to Yonkers in the south. Over the 180 years since it was built portions have disappeared from the downtown areas of several river towns, so a map can be helpful. Cornelia Cotton Gallery at 111 Grand Ave. sells maps of the trail.

- Go to Teatown Nature Reservation at 1600 Spring Valley Road, +1 914 760-2912, They have a kid-friendly nature center there with many East Coast animals on display. They also have 13 hiking trails.
Events
- Croton Point Park hosts Clearwater's Great Hudson River Revival, a yearly folk music, art and environmental festival.
- Summerfest. Every year the central business district (with corners at the municipal building, Grand Street fire house and Croton-Harmon High School) is closed to automobile traffic for music, American food, local fundraisers, and traveling and local artists.
- Every weekend in October, people visit Van Cortlandt Manor to see the Blaze. Started in 2005, the Blaze consists of thousands of pumpkins which are hollowed out by volunteers but carved by a creative team.
