Dharwad is a district in Karnataka State. Dharwad is quiet and peaceful city amidst lot of vegetation. Students come here from all over North Karnataka.
The history of Dharwad can be traced back to 12th century. It is just east of magnificent "Western Ghats". The District of Dharwad district is strategically located in Northern Karnataka, Dharwad-Hubli are the twin cities 15 kilometre apart from each other. This signifies how well the district has progressed financially and politically, that necessitated creation of more administrative divisions. Dharwad is surrounded of hills and there are numerous lakes and other smaller water bodies.
A few decades ago, Dharwad district was a big district of Karnataka state. It has been divided into two more districts: Gadag and Haveri. There are five taluks (tehsils) in Dharwad district: Dharwad, Hubbali, Kundagol, Navalgund and Kalghatagi. Dharwad city is headquarters of Dharwad district.
Kannada is the main language or the mother tongue of large number of people in Dharwad district. There are people who speak Hindi, Marathi , Tulu and Urdu.
Hubli (Hubball ) is the main junction in Dharwad district and also the headquarters of South Western Railway Zone of Indian Railways. Hubballi is connected to major cities of India by railway services like Bengaluru, Mysuru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Varanasi,Mumbai, Madgaon (Goa) and Vijayawada. Dharwad and Kundgol are the other important railway stations in Dharwad district. Dharwad railway station is about 3 km from the centre of town. There is also a shuttle service between Dharwad & Hubli used by many commuters.

Dharwad district is well connected by bus services. The Karnataka state, Maharashtra state and Telangana state transport buses ply to and from Dharwad. The main new bus station ( NWKRTC ) is about 4 km from the centre of town on the Belgaum Road at Dharwad and at Gokul Road in Hubballi. The old bus stand at both the places still functions but the frequency of buses can be dodgy.
Apart from the Government-run buses, there many private bus operators which operate buses to Bangalore, Mysore, Pune, Mumbai, Udupi and Mangalore.

There is an airport in Hubli (IATA: HBX) in Dharwad district, There are few flights from Karnataka state capital Bengaluru and Mumbai.
Mobile speed cameras are present on the Hubli - Dharwad road. Speed limit 40 km/h. Some areas 50 km/h. Fine is ₹300/. Mobile speed cameras are also present before entry into dharwad if one is coming from Belgaum side.
City Bus service:
City bus services are operated by Karnataka government owned NWKRTC and private operators within Hubli Dharwad city. There are bus services run by NWKRTC to nearby villages from Hubballi and Dharwad.

These are the best modes of transport. Agree upon a price before starting a journey. The prices are always inflated. Reasonable fare is 75% of the asking price by the autodriver.
Visit Neerasagar lake at Dhumvada which supplies water to Dharwad and Unkal lake at Hubli which supplies water to Hubballi. Also visit Navalgund town to see the weaving of Jamkhanas or Durries or Carpets.
There are many wine shops and bars.
Non alcoholic beverages are also a plenty. Many fruit juice stalls. Cleanliness of these are questionable.
SDM trust has its medical and dental colleges and hospitals in Dharwad.
The SDM dental college and hospital is one of the best in the country. It is NAAC accredited 5-star college in the country.
Lakkundi is a historical place near Gadag.
Pattadkal is the world heritage site declared by UNESCO.
Badami for ancient and magnificent temples.
Anshi National Park or Kali Tiger Reserve is a tiger reserve in northern part of Karnataka state.
