Ikaalinen is a town in Finland. It is situated about 50 km from Tampere to northwest.
The current shape and development of the town dates back to the late 19th century, when the forest industry was established in the area and the first sawmills were set up. Ikaalinen grew rapidly as an industrial town, and several new factories and industrial plants were built around the town. In the early 1900s, Ikaalinen also developed as a spa town.
