Prince Edward Islands redirects here. They should not be confused with Prince Edward Island, the province of Canada.
The only way to travel to Marion Island is as a team member. Communication is served by the ship S.A. Agulhas that travels Cape Town-Marion Island once a year.
The only way to travel to Marion Island is on board a South African research vessel. Research team members remain on the island for 14 months, but it is also possible to visit the island as part of the relief team.
Marion Island is run as a research station by South African National Antarctic Programme (SANAP).
Marion Island is not a tourist destination and access is limited to SANAP team members.
There are no shops, restaurants or accommodations on Marion island.
