Nan Madol is in Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia.
Nan Madol is a former city, nowadays a ruin, on Temwen island just outside the east coast of Pohnpei. Featuring canals and artificial islands, it is sometimes referred to as the Venice of the Pacific. The site is inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The number of toll takers may differ. You will have up to:
$1 fee per person to cross from the road to the foot path.
$3 fee per person to enter the back yard of the house, where the path starts.
$3 per person to enter Nan Madol
Bring water shoes and swim pants. Time your visit for low tide. While some crossings may have footpaths (downed trees), the most important crossing from Dau to Nan Douwas (the main islet with the primary ruin) will require wading across the water.
See the main ruin on Nan Douwas along with ancillary ruins and the sea wall on adjacent islets.
Take a walk on the Nan Madol footpath in and out of Nan Madol. Occasionally, find a kayak operator who can give you a ride from Dau to Nan Douwas in exchange for a few dollars.
