Omo National Park (dead link: August 2018) is in south-western Ethiopia, towards the border with South Sudan and Kenya, and west of the Omo River. Mago National Park is on the eastern side of the Omo River. The Lower Valley of the Omo, a site where prehistoric human remains have been found, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1980.
The recommendations made by two UNESCO missions in 1963 and 1965 gave birth to the establishment of the Omo National Park.
