Tulcea is in Romania and lies at the western 'entrance' of the Danube Delta.
While Tulcea has its own airport, flights are limited to general aviation and a few seasonal charter routes. The nearest major international airport is in the capital Bucharest.
The city is an approximately two-hour minibus ride away from Constanta bus station.
Train services are rather slow, there's several daily trains from Medgidia, taking three hours. At Medgidia it's possible to connect with Intercity trains from Constanta and Bucharest.
At the Tulcean riverside promenade there is an information centre on the Danube Delta-ecosystem, which is a UNESCO World Heritage-site. The information centre has with friendly, English-speaking staff.
