Zabid (Arabic: زبيد, also transliterated Zebid) is a city in Coastal Plains of Yemen, west of the country, near the Red Sea Coast.
Once the capital of the country, between 13th and 15th centuries, and a centre of Islamic education, the old town of Zabid has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
